WHERE ARE THEY?
Rumour has it that there are many muzzle loading cannon hiding in all sorts of public places all over South Africa. Clues of where they might be found are in the alphabetical list above.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU FIND THEM
If you find those cannon, please take photos and send them to email@example.com, along with the name of the city or town where they were found and the exact street addresses. (If you could provide the GPS coordinates as well, it would be real dandy.)
If possible please provide several photographs of the cannon, e.g. taken directly from behind, directly from the front, from the top (as much as possible) and from each side. Please also include close-up pictures, especially showing any markings on the cannon, e.g. numbers or crests, and showing where on the cannon those markings are.
When taking photos for cannon identification, please remember that what we are interested in is seeing as much of the cannon (i.e. the barrel) as possible and that the background and carriage is unimportant for this exercise. However, a well framed photo of the cannon including the carriage will look much nicer on the website, so please send us one of those as well.
Please remember to provide us with the date when your photos were taken.
Please also provide us with your name so that we can give you recognition, should we decide to use any of your photos on our website. (Please note our disclaimer.) Your contact number will also be appreciated, in the event that we need to contact you for more information. Your contact details will never be published - guaranteed.

ANY OTHER PLACES OF INTEREST CLOSE BY?
If you have noticed other places close by the cannon that you have found, which might be of interest to tourists, (e.g. museums, memorials, wild-life sanctuaries, restaurants, farm stalls, etc.) please also inform us of them and the addresses where they can be found so that we can include those details on our website as well.
NOTHING HAPPENING WHEN YOU CLICK THE CLUE LIST?
Please note that if a page opens when you click on the name of a cannon site in the alphabetical list, it means that Project Sherlock or a participating member of the public has visited that cannon site. If nothing happens, you could be the first participant in Project Sherlock to inspect that cannon site and to submit your photographic evidence to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Remember, you can also submit additional photos or information and updates regarding the whereabouts and condition of the cannon.
KEEP AN EYE OUT
Please help preserve our cannon heritage by constantly keeping an eye on their whereabouts and the condition that they are in and submit your reports to email@example.com. We will get in touch with the relevant conservation bodies, should it be required.
Remember to periodically check in to see which of the clues in the alphabetical list above were updated with new "evidence".
